Ghanian Varsity Graduates Invents Solar Electric Cooker that can work for 25years

Martin Osei, a Ghanian University graduate, and his team has invented an insulated solar electric cooker that can work for a minimum of 25 years. Martin, speaking with YEN.com.gh, revealed that the cooker is able to store the sun’s energy to prepare meals even after the sun goes down. Martin Osei who studied Mechanical Engineering and graduated in 2018, is now furthering his studies in United States. “We have been working on the solar cooker for the past three years as a solution to the cooking needs of people who live particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa. Most people still depend on charcoal which causes harm to the environment or gas which is expensive,” he indicated. The Academic Staff Union of Universities has again indicated that if the federal government does not implement it’s Memorandum of Action, MoA, by January ending, they will likely shut down universities. asuu logo Speaking with Vanguardngr in an interview, the Union’s president, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said the union was waiting for the period of grace given to lapse before taking the necessary steps. “As a responsible union, we are consulting widely on the issues at stake. We have an MoA that is yet to be implemented fully and we also have the renegotiation of the 2007 Agreement pending. A lot of groups and concerned individuals have stepped in to intervene in the matter. “We are responsible unionists and citizens and we must give room to those interventions; may be they can help persuade the government to do the needful. Kwara Varsity Student jailed over N74m Internet Fraud .

A High Court in Kwara State has jailed a student of Kwara State University (KWASU), Alonge Toyyib, over a N74m internet fraud. The 24-year-old student was sentenced to prison after the court found him guilty of the two counts leveled against him by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). EFCC charged the student with two charges, one of which reads: “That you, Alonge Toyyib Alao, sometime in April 2020 to April 2021 in Ilorin, Kwara State within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court did knowingly have under your control N74,753,261 paid into your Fidelity Bank Account No 63*362**** which is reasonably suspected to be unlawfully obtained.” According to the anti-crime agency, the offense was contrary to Section 319A of the Penal Code Law and punishable under the same law. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has extended their strike deadline to February over intervention by Nigerian Religious bodies. asuu logo According to the body, they will wait till February for the outcome of the mediatory talks between the federal government and the religious body. The 50-member Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) which comprises Sultan of Sokoto, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, among other Christian and Muslim leaders, had in the past weeks begged ASUU to allow them to intervene in the situation. ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodake, while speaking with THISDAY on Saturday said that the union had agreed to wait till February, adding that it has also submitted its position to NIREC which promised to help mediate and resolve the issues. “ASUU leadership has agreed to wait till February to give NIREC and other stakeholders enough room to address the union’s grievances,” he said. Narrating the story, a Twitter user identified as @TheBriDen revealed while opening the eyes of young men to some unfavourable implications of allowing girls to pass the night in their houses, revealed that this Uniport student is currently in a big mess as the family of his late girlfriend is keen on getting back at him. The video was posted on an Instagram story by a fellow student and it shows the young man uncontrollably acting like he is high and zoned out. The Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has told Nigerian Youths that Education is not an automatic ticket to government jobs. According to Mr. President, Nigerian youths should use their education and exposure to improve themselves and not see them as tickets to depend on the government. Buhari said this in an interview with Channels TV.  Don’t Be Scammed, We’ve Not Commenced Sale of 2022 UTME Forms, JAMB Warns The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned prospective candidates against being scammed since it had not commenced the sale of the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations and Direct Entry forms. This is according to a statement signed by the Board’s Head of Media and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, which noted that any claims that the sale of forms had commenced was fraudulent and should be disregarded.  NIN, others to delay UTME registration, says JAMB The Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that the use of the National Identification Number (NIN) will delay the commencement of the 2022 UTME registration. The board also defended its decision to enforce the National Identity Number requirement in the registration process. The spokesman for the board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made the clarifications in an interview with The PUNCH in Abuja. Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team have arrested a graduate of the National Open University, Stanley Obed, for allegedly threatening to kill his lover’s husband identified simply as Chidi in Rivers State. It was gathered that Obed, who disguised as a kidnapper, demanded the sum of N2.5m from Chidi and threatened to kidnap him if he refused to pay the money.
